My Zombie Self

About the Author

The imagination is a powerful thing, and I’ve always felt it was a shame that it couldn’t be fully expressed before we left this world. Impressions we leave when we are long gone are echoes of who we were and what imagination we had. Writing is one of the best ways to keep those echos bouncing through eternity.

I’ve always been a daydreamer, and from my earliest childhood i attempted to express these daydreams through stories, both written and spoken. I developed a passion for reading, but it was never quite right. No book truly satisfied what I wanted, what I was dreaming. So, I began writing more seriously. Not to be known or to be out there, but so I had a story that I knew was what I would enjoy reading. At some point, I decided to let everyone else have a read too.

Fantasy has always intrigued me, but the lack of realism, though obviously one of its defining characteristics, always irked me. I like my fantasy to have a bit of realism, and the magical parts to be mysterious instead of blunt, in your face elements of the world. In saying that, my series set in the world of Morel is probably more fantasy and less realistic than most . . . Go figure!

On occasion I also enjoy writing a bit of horror. If horror is your passion, I hope you get a chance to check out my series around the demon Dargen, a creature leftover from a period of fever-induced delusions from my younger years.

If neither of these is your style, don’t stress, I’m certain something i write will be right up your alley, so be sure to sign-up to my newsletter and pay attention to what I’m releasing. Happy reading!

– Matthew Luke (despite my picture, I’m not really a zombie, honest . . .)
